The right masking tape for every application

Do you want more than just any old masking tape? Do you want high-quality masking tapes perfectly matched to the respective requirements, the substrate and the duration of use? Class instead of quantity? Preferably in an efficient system combination? Then we have the complete solution.

With our three series MASKING-TEC® Crepe masking tape, SMOOTH-TEC® Smooth masking tape and WASHI-TEC® Gold masking tape, you have three specialists in one hand – each one a number in itself, together the perfect solution for every task.

Advantage of branded products

What is the most important thing for professionals when masking and covering? It really has to work (as perfectly as possible)! That’s why there are professional products, brand quality and other quality guarantees that you can rely on. Losing time because of poor tapes and masking materials? For professional painters, double work and damage due to poor tools and processing properties of the products used are expensive “fun”. After all, time is the most expensive thing you have and can lose as a painter. Therefore, the higher or lower price does not matter if the product effectively saves time and risks. A little cheaper can be a lot more expensive – so quality has priority!

Avoid soiling at all costs!

Sensitive substrates such as wallpaper or filler techniques often “only” need to be reliably protected from soiling. A lightly adhesive tape such as Kip 309 WASHI-TEC® Wallpaper is the perfect solution for this. Because A) the Washi backing adheres well to the substrate and B) the special natural rubber adhesive guarantees easy removal from sensitive substrates – problem solved!

For even more protection

When masking and covering windows, pay close attention to the materials used for coating or plastering. Tapes with a paper backing are usually sufficient for painting. However, stronger protection is required for ETICS and plastering work. For example, a window frame can first be masked with 319 PE protective tape (white or orange) and then, if necessary, a 310 Duo Tapes plus PE masking film can be applied. The latter clings to the substrate through static charging. Aluminum window sills should also be covered with Protective tapes made of PE.

Removing tapes correctly

It is always important (!) to peel off the tapes correctly: pull them off as evenly as possible and not hastily and jerkily directly after the coating has dried for the first time and not only after it is completely dry. The ideal peel angle is 30° to 45° – parallel to the coated surface, but not against the edge of the paint.

Kip® professional tips

Tom Giesen

Head of painting company Giesen

A tricky task for the Giesen painting company: A 20 cm wide frieze was to be set off in gray on the walls of an office – on a multi-coated glass fabric. After trying out various tapes with Washi backing, boss Tom Giesen came to the following conclusion: “The red Kip ULTRA SHARP® worked best. It was convincing in every respect.

Jörg Giesen

Head of painting company Giesen

Master painter Jörg Giesen, 52, explains: “We mainly work for private customers. And of course the cover is particularly important there and the effort involved is correspondingly high. Customers today demand perfection down to the last detail. As painters, we shouldn’t leave any traces that annoy customers – even if they are only noticeable on closer inspection.”
